About Dr. Liz Giles, DC
LIZ GILES grew up on the coast of Maine before pursuing theater and film in Boston and New York City. She received her undergraduate degree in theatre from NYU in 2000.
During her undergraduate years she became fascinated with movement and exploring how our movement patterns tell so much of our story. Her artistic attraction to movement quickly turned scientific when a back injury prompted her to find ways to heal and prevent this injury from recurring. She experienced profound results after practicing Pilates for just a short amount of time. Compelled to share this method with others, she became a certified Pilates trainer, focusing on rehab and injury prevention, in 2003. Her desire to do even more for her clients later prompted her to return to school. Dr. Giles earned her doctorate in chiropractic, graduating magna cum laude with both academic and clinical honors, from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Giles is constantly exploring and learning new techniques to help her patients. She has taken courses in Graston technique, the Activator method, K-taping, Sacro-Occipital technique and is certified in A.R.T. (Active Release Technique) and SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment). Dr. Giles is known for her compassionate and gentle approach and is honored to be designated as one of Portland Monthly’s Top Docs in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
