Foam Rolling & Trigger Points
Say Bye-bye to awkward scooting and hello to muscle-repairing gliding with this fun and informative foam roller workshop! We will guide you through a series of exercises from head to toe using a foam roller and trigger point ball. Foam rolling and trigger point work are forms of myofascial release suitable for all fitness levels and body types. By applying varying pressure to specific tight spots and trigger points throughout the body, we can help not only release tension but improve flexibility, recovery, circulation, and lymph flow. Trigger point tools and foam rollers of various densities will be provided in class, with the option to purchase after the workshop.

Prehab for Runners
This workshop explores the use of Pilates mat work and sports specific exercises to improve your running efficiency and help prevent injury. In a study published in Plos One, trained runners who participated in a 12-week pilates course (two one-hour sessions each week) significantly improved their 5K time, VO2 max and metabolic cost of running. Balanced posture and effective core stability are essential for good running technique, and they’re both at the center of the Pilates practice. Sometimes a slight imbalance in the body can create major problems for you when you run, because of the repetitive nature of running. We will pay extra attention to working on hip, knee and ankle alignment, improving the tracking of the knee, strengthening the hips and feet, and balancing the quads and hamstrings. All props provided in class, with the option to purchase after the workshop. Great for runners of all levels!

breathing Workshop
Join us for our popular and dynamic workshop focusing on breathing. Using props and movement, learn how to expand your breath capacity, restore proper breathing mechanics, and incorporate breath into your Pilates practice.
Joseph Pilates, the creator of the original Pilates method, struggled with asthma and rheumatic fever as a child, and incorporated breathing into his work to expand his lung capacity and support powerful movement. In our current pandemic times, breath work is a free tool we all have available to us, to get our lungs in optimal shape, restore our breathing capacity, and improve our overall health and well being. There is no part of the body that isn't deeply impacted by the way we breathe, from the musculoskeletal system to the hormonal, cardiovascular, nervous and immune systems. All props provided in class, with the option to purchase after the workshop.
